Capsule Wardrobe: Vegas Edition

This was my first long weekend trip using my capsule wardrobe and we headed to Vegas!

I have been to Vegas several times, but this was B’s first time. We met up with my parents to explore the city. There was a lot of brunch, some great shows (Michael Jackson One and Penn & Teller), walking, and Hoover Dam exploration.

I enjoyed the ease of packing that the capsule provided. I also love how I was able to be comfortable and effortlessly stylish whilst exploring the city, not worrying too much about what I was wearing. I honestly felt like I was dressed like myself and not over thinking if I looked Vegas enough.

For the show on Sunday night I dressed up in my “fanciest” pieces that I brought – a navy velvet mini and a light grey Cloth & Stone blouse. It was my first time this capsule season that I was able to wear my velvet mini and I enjoyed the chance to be a bit dressed up.

What would Vegas be without lots of great food at the Bellagio?! Brunch with a peach bellini and then authentic gelato later in the day*.

The shows were fabulous. We participated in a magic trick and got to meet both Penn & Teller!

It was great spending time with B and my family.

(*Full disclosure – it was so hot walking around Sunday that I had to stop at a Marshalls and buy a sleeveless top. It is technically active wear, so it doesn’t count against my capsule, but I love the stripes and will get a lot of gym use out of it.)

Weekend Excursion Packing Made Easy

When you have a capsule wardrobe, packing to go on a weekend trip becomes even easier.

I’ve packed:

  • two pairs of shoes, Tory Burch velvet beetle flats and Sam Edelman tan booties
  • two pants, grey skinny jeans and tan cords
  • one mini skirt, velvet blue
  • three blouses, grey chambray, blue chambray, blue with white detail chambray (hm, perhaps I should do a post on how much I love Cloth & Stone chambray shirts?!)
  • one sweater for layering
  • one v-neck grey t-shirt
  • two scarfs, red with flower detail and while with grey and teal stripes
  • assorted under wear (layering cami, bras, undies, tights, socks)
  • PJs
  • two books, one for fun (Dear Mr. You) and one for work (The Psychology of Food)

I feel pretty good about this assortment. This also includes what I am wearing for the flight today. I am more than ready for a weekend away.

Clearly, I have not mastered the art of simplifying the makeup and face products I bring on a trip. I may be slightly obsessed with products and keeping that youthful appearance – Vitamin C Serum for the win!
