Wearing red this Wednesday for education. My first career was as a teacher and my research is often focused on motivation and achievement in the educational realm. My friend Vera said it best, “I wear red because I believe all children deserve and have the right to quality education. I wear red because I believe guns have NO place in schools. I wear red because I know the difference between proficient and growth. I wear red because I know what IDEA means. I wear red because I had to student teach in order to become a teacher, and I believe the head of the department of education should have to also. I wear red because I will not accept this nomination as a representation of the 10 years of work I have committed my life to. I wear red because I deserve better, my colleagues deserve better, and my children deserve better. I wear red for education.”
